PARA Mission

Through research, education, advocacy and counseling, the purpose of the Corporation is to provide, maintain and support a program for all persons who have retired from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and/or its predecessor in name the Port of New York Authority and those active employees that elect to join. 

It is designed to promote the spirit and to maintain, provide and support a program of activities for such persons, to conduct meetings on issues of importance to Members, to provide a practical means for Members to work together for the mutual aid and benefit of the Membership, to work with and cooperate with other retirement organizations and to maintain a liaison with the Port Authority, to take and hold by lease, gift, purchase, grant, devise or bequest any property, real or personal, as may be necessary and desirable for achieving the objectives herein and carrying into effect the above-stated purpose of the Port Authority Retirees Association, Inc., to apply for and receive individual, private and governmental grants and otherwise to raise funds for the purposes identified herein., to promote the welfare of its Members by fostering and encouraging united effort to devise ways and means for improving national, state and municipal legislation, and to do any other act or thing incidental to or connected with the foregoing purposes or in advancement thereof.
