Nava, 91, of Fort Lee, NJ on Sunday January 9, 2022.
Beloved husband of 67
years to Miriam (nee Sokolsky). Loving father of Ramona
Vazquez and her husband Manny, Mari Garcia and her
husband Frank and Richard Nava. Cherished grandfather of
Lorien and Shawn, Jocelyn and Liz, Killian and Zachary,
Dashall, Caitlin and Thomas, Nicolas, and
great-grandfather of Seraphina, Arius, Farrah and Alex.
Dear brother of Marie Birmingham and Norma Vergona.
Born in New York
City, NY on July 15, 1930 to Javier and Mary Nava. He
lived in the Bronx before moving to Fort Lee, NJ 25
years ago.
US
Army Reservist for 33 & ½ years, having earned the rank
of Master Sergeant. Richard began working with his
father at 5th Avenue Coach, then NY/NJ Port Authority, a
fleet manager at The Record Newspaper and a service
advisor at Benzel Busch.
He was very active as
a Boy Scout of America. He loved hunting, hiking and
photography. An avid reader, he loved history and
anything military. He enjoyed spending summers in New
Hampshire with his wife and kids. He had a fondness for
cars, the Opera and classical music. He and his wife
enjoyed traveling to Europe and even went to see the
glaciers in Canada. He also enjoyed his plants and his
cats.
A Mass of Christian
Burial was held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Sacred
Heart R.C. Church, 12 Terrace Ave. Rochelle Park, NJ.
Burial followed in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington,
NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations to the NJ Veterans
Home at Paramus, 1 Veterans Way, Paramus, NJ 07652 would
be appreciated in his memory.
