Obituary

Audley George Pryce was born on June 20, 1951 in Old Harbour, Jamaica and passed away on January 12, 2021 in a Melbourne, Florida hospital.

The son of Joseph Price and Iris Wynter, Audley was the third of their four children. He graduated from St Jago High School, Class of 1964, in Spanish Town and then went on to earn a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus Kingston Jamaica, in 1975. For seven years, Audley worked at British Insulated Callenders Cables (BICC) in Old Harbour, before, during and after attending UWI.

In 1979, Audley emigrated to New York City, and soon after began to work at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey where he held several accounting roles, retiring in 2013 after 32 years of service.

In 1984, Audley married his wife Jacinta Atkinson, spent two years in Brooklyn, NY before purchasing a home in Bloomfield, New Jersey in 1987 where they raised their two children, Tiffany and Stephen.

Audley was a very dedicated father, playing active roles in his children’s education and activities at Sacred Heart School and in Bloomfield, taking on the role of tutor, baseball coach, basketball supporter and soccer fan. In 2017, Audley and Jacinta moved to Melbourne, Florida where they built their final home.

Affectionately known as Sugar, Audley was a friend and confidant to many. Throughout the years, he maintained strong friendships from his school-friends, the Old Harbour community, his former BICC co-workers and his co-workers at the Port Authority. He would spend several hours on the phone each day chatting with friends & family about their well-being, finances and mutual plans for the future.

To his family, Audley was a connector and a staple, always reaching out to check in, share an encouraging word, provide a gentle push, and impart some wisdom during the conversation. In his free time, Audley loved music, going to and watching horse racing, old western movies, football (soccer), cricket, a friendly game of dominoes, and always enjoyed a spirited debate.

Audley was preceded in homegoing by his father, Joseph Price, and his brother, Owen Pryce.

Audley is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years Jacinta; two children -- Tiffany and Stephen Pryce; his mother, Iris; his siblings -- Sonia, Jean, Lorna, Carol, Earl, Rudolph, Marie, Eric, and Zinnia; his aunt -- Hyacinth; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Family Thank You: There are not enough words to fully express our heartfelt thanks for the sympathy, love and support you have extended to our family during this time of loss. - Jacinta, Tiffany and Stephen
