Obituary
Thomas L. Wagner,
age 72, passed away on Saturday April 25, 2020 at
Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. Born and raised in
Bayonne, Thomas had resided in North Plainfield since
1976.
Thomas received his
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the Newark
College of Engineering currently known as the New Jersey
Institute of Technology. Thomas later earned a Master’s
Degree in Structural Engineering also from the New
Jersey Institute of Technology, NJIT. Thomas put his
degrees to work at the Port Authority of New York and
New Jersey, having been involved in the Tunnels and
Bridges Department as well as the Aviation Department.
Thomas retired in 2012 after a 28-year career. He also
held a Professional Engineering License.
Thomas was an active
member of the Trinity Reformed Church in North
Plainfield; he was a former elder and sang in their
choir. He had a love for helping people which was
reflected in his volunteer work. He often would help at
the Agape House, a church run afterschool program that
helped children with their schoolwork. When his children
were younger, he coached their baseball, basketball and
softball teams. He also served on the North Plainfield
Board of Education. He will be missed by all.
Thomas is predeceased
by his parents, George and Harriet Wagner, two brothers
Edward and George Wagner and a sister Mary Poore.
Surving are his
loving wife of 48 years Leona Wagner, his son Matthew
Wagner and his wife Elisabete and his daughter Kelly
Wagner, two grandsons Jake Michael and Noah Zachary; two
sisters Violet McCullough and Joanne Nuber. He is also
survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family
and friends.
A live-stream service
will be on Saturday at 10:30 am.
Memorial donations may be made in his loving memory to
Church World Service, St. Francis Bread Line or the Food
for the Poor.
