						Obituary
						
						
						
						Joseph John Slovensky Jr. of Dayton passed away 
						peacefully at home in the arms of his loving wife on 
						Thursday, January 2, 2020.
						
						Joseph was born in Bronx, NY, lived in Ridgewood, 
						Queens, and moved to Dayton thirty-five years ago. He 
						was an avid New York Yankees and Giants fan. He worked 
						as a police officer and detective for the Port Authority 
						of New York and New Jersey and was also part of the 
						Hostage Negotiating Team. He was the Director of 
						Security for the New York Board of Trade and was present 
						during the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. He 
						was an Assistant Scout Master for Troup 10 of Monmouth 
						Junction. He served in the United States Navy during the 
						Korean War. Joseph was a proud grandfather, a devout 
						catholic, and enjoyed traveling on cruise ships with his 
						wife seventeen times.
						
						Predeceased by his parents Joseph John Sr. and Susie (Hanatick) 
						Slovensky; he is survived by his wife Christine (Tumasonis) 
						Slovensky; his three sons Matthew, Kevin, and Brian; and 
						four grandchildren. 
						
						Visitation will be on Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 2-4 
						and 7-9 PM at M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road 
						at New Road, Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852.
						
						Funeral will begin at 9 AM on Friday, January 10, 2020 
						at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 
						celebrated at 10 AM at St. Cecilia’s Church, 10 Kingston 
						Lane, Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852. Entombment will 
						follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
						
						In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. 
						Cecilia’s Church, 10 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction,
