Eduino L. Silva

Obituary

Eduino “Ed” L. Silva, 87, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2020 in his home.

He was born on November 18, 1932 in the Republic of Cape Verde to Joao Duarte Silva and Antonia Leite Brito. Eduino worked as a merchant marine before coming to the United States. He then worked as a bridge painter for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He was awarded a medal of honor for bravery when he saved someone from jumping off a bridge. He was a wonderful and humorous father, who loved to go to Goodwill and buy gadgets to send to his daughters in New York.

Eduino is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Lilibeth Silva of Virginia and children from his previous marriage: three daughters of New York: Antonia Silva, Leda Castillo, and Madeline Louison, his son, Eddie Hodgson of Florida, six grandchildren, Andy Louison, Jeremy Louison, David Louison, and Sarah Louison of New York, and Daniel Hodgson and David Hodgson of Florida, and his two great grandchildren, Ava Louison and Isabella Louison of Tennessee.

A viewing and visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6 from 6-8 PM and funeral mass on Wednesday, October 7 at 10:30 AM at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Princess Anne Chapel, 3445 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23456. Monsignor Raphael Peprah will be officiating the mass, and the burial will follow at Colonial Grove. Condolences may be made to the family at at www.hollomon-brown.com
