Obituary
Thomas R. Rush passed away peacefully in his home
December 19, 2020.
Tom was born on 12-9-1952 to Dorothy (Augspurger) and
Thomas R. Rush Sr. He resided in Weehawken. He attended
Weehawken High School and was a long-distance runner on
the track team. He graduated from Montclair University
with a Bachelor of Science degree and went on to receive
a Masters of Political Science from Fairleigh Dickinson
University.
Tom had many interests and hobbies he was an Eagle Scout
and loved camping, collecting sports memorabilia,
gardening, softball, whiffle ball and home improvement
projects. He was a HUGE Yankee and Giants fan. So much
so when he was receiving the sacrament of confirmation,
he tried to use Clete (Cletus Boyer his favorite Yankee)
as his confirmation name, the nuns put a kibosh on that
quickly. He also belonged to the Devils fan club and
with go to different states to attend hockey games.
Tom worked at the Port Authority of NY & NJ for 30 years
in many different capacities such, as Field supervisor
in the Operations Dept. (where he met wife Colleen
Waiver whom he was married to for 34 ½ years.) He was
also a Supervisor in the Office of Minority Business
Development, and as Mall Manager for the Real Estate
Department at The World Trade Center. After retiring he
enjoyed traveling and going on cruises with friends and
going to Cape May to celebrate his and Colleen’s wedding
anniversary.
Tom is survived by his wife Colleen, his predeceased
sister Mary Ellen and brother in-law Rocco Degregorio,
He is survived by his nieces and nephews Logan and her
husband Brian Seaman and their son Brian Jr. Magee
Degregorio, Cooper Degregorio and Hunter Degregorio. His
sisters in law Donna her husband Eric Richert. Lynn
Waiver, Susan and her husband Michael Keenan. His
brother-in-law Glenn Waiver. His niece Jensen Richert.
His nephews: Evan Richert his wife Jessica and their son
Theo. Sean Keenan and Michael Keenan Jr.
There will be no service this year due to Covid-19.
There will be a Celebration of his life next year when
the virus has subsided. In lieu of flowers or other
gifts, please donate to Saint Jude’s Children’s hospital
