Obituary
Gregory Reszka, 66, beloved husband of Catherine
McKernan Reszka, passed away on Wednesday January 1,
2020.
His visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday,
January 7, 2020 at Andrews Mortuary and Crematory,
Market Street Chapel.
Gregory “Greg” Reszka, 66, passed away Wednesday,
Jan. 1, 2020. Greg was the son of Klemens and Bronislawa
Reszka born in Bydgoszcz, Poland. He came to the United
States as a child and graduated with a Master’s Degree
in Architecture and Business. He started his career in
New York City with an engineering firm and he went on
from there to work for The Port Authority of New York
and New Jersey for 28 years, holding many titles, until
retiring as the assistant director for PATH in the
Capital Project Management Division.
Many people do not know that Greg was a 9/11 survivor,
who received a medal for bravery helping to save the
lives of 75 people on that day. He and his wife
then moved to North Carolina to a house that he built.
Greg was an avid sports fan, whether it was watching
professional teams like the Giants, his hockey team the
Devils, and above all, his son’s games. Greg loved
sports so much that he volunteered as a soccer coach and
referee coordinator.
Greg loved traveling as often as he could, especially
cruising. He was an avid card player and took up pickle
ball and golf when he retired to Brunswick Forest. He
loved his new group of friends and enjoyed organizing
birthday luncheons and evening card games. His greatest
love was always his wife and son and spending as much
time as possible with them.
He was an amazing man with many talents and a contagious
smile. He could fix just about anything. While the void
he left can never be filled, the memories are priceless.
Surviving Greg are his wife of 39 years, Catherine; and
son, Michael. Visitation will be held from noon to 2
p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Andrews Mortuary & Crematory.
