Paul Dante Segalini
August 15, 1942 - March 11, 2019
Obituary
Paul Dante Segalini, 76, of Kendall Park, NJ, passed
away on March 11, 2019.
He was born in Greenwich Village, New York City, on
August 15, 1942, to Louis and Amalia Segalini. He is
survived by his wife of 43 years, Grace; son, David, and
his wife Emily and their two daughters, Olivia and
Claire; daughter, Christa, and her husband Alexander;
and daughters Jennifer, Stephanie and Elizabeth from a
previous marriage. He was preceded in death by his
mother and father; his older brother, Louis “Buddy”; and
his beloved brother-in-law, Joseph Paterno.
Paul graduated from Brooklyn College and spent his
career at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
His sharp wit, sense of humor and fairness earned him
the respect and admiration of his staff and colleagues,
and eventually he rose to become the Director of Human
Resources, and finally the Director of Labor Relations,
during a seminal period in the Port Authority’s history.
He was a survivor of the terrorist attacks of September
11, 2001, and was involved in the Port Authority’s
response to those events. He retired in 2007 after more
than 44 years with the Port Authority.
After Paul’s marriage to Grace, they eventually settled
in Montgomery Township, New Jersey, to raise their
family. In Montgomery, they made many lifelong friends
and became part of the community there. Family was the
most important thing to Paul. He gave them the very best
of himself. He loved telling stories about growing up in
“the Village” and of his grandparents who helped to
raise him as a little boy. He was a lover of all things
Italian, and enjoyed debating and discussing history,
international relations, culture and politics with
family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday,
