Obituary

Carnevale, Michael G., age 70, of Wilmington, DE

Died on Monday, March 4, 2019. Born in Paterson, Michael had resided in Hawthorne, North Haledon and Franklin Lakes before moving to Wilmington 10 years ago. He graduated from Quinnipiac University in Hampden, CT and was a member of the TKE Fraternity. Michael had worked for The Port Authority of NY and NJ Police Department for 26 years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He was a member of the Retired Port Authority Police, and the Lieutenant’s Benevolent Association.

A former U.S Army MP, Michael was a former parishioner of St. Anthony’s R.C. Church in Hawthorne, and later St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Pompton Lakes, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Michael was an avid fisherman and loved cooking, Frank Sinatra music, his vegetable garden and classic films.

Michael G. Carnevale was the beloved husband of Patricia (nee Zologa) Carnevale. Loving father of Michael J. Carnevale and his wife Laura of Wilmington, DE, and Nicholas Carnevale of Hawthorne. Dear grandfather of Talia, Gianna, and Gabriella, and step-grandfather of Peyton.

Funeral will be departing at 8:45am on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne for a 9:30am funeral mass at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Pompton Lakes. Interment will follow at the Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday evening, from 4:00 to 8:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Rescue, Inc, 2 Shelter Lane, Oakland, NJ 07436.
