						Frank James Smyth, 91, of Hazlet, New Jersey, 
						passed away peacefully on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 
						Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey, 
						surrounded by his loving family. 
						
						
						
						He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Matilda 
						Smyth and his dear brothers, Albert and George. Frank is 
						survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 66 years, 
						Helen (Yurecko) Smyth, his loving sons, Robert M. Smyth 
						of Clinton, New Jersey, Kevin P. Smyth and his wife, 
						Mary Beth Witkowski-Smyth of Tinton Falls, New Jersey, 
						and his cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Dylan, 
						Timothy, and Elizabeth, along with his much-loved 
						nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. 
						Frank will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
						
						Frank was born on October 12, 1926, and raised in 
						Newark, New Jersey. On October 11, 1952, Frank and 
						Helen, were married and began their life together in 
						Hillside, New Jersey, before settling in Hazlet in 1957 
						where they raised their family and have resided for the 
						last 61 years. Frank was employed by the Port Authority 
						of New York and New Jersey for over 40 years, rising 
						through the ranks and retiring as Manager of the Holland 
						Tunnel. Frank, while working full-time, received a 
						Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Seton 
						Hall University, and a Masters Degree in Planning and 
						Management from NYU. 
						
						
						
						Frank served for three and a half years on the original 
						planning board, and was instrumental in the creation of 
						the Master Plan for the township of Raritan before it 
						became Hazlet Township. He was also a proud United 
						States Navy Veteran, having served two separate 
						enlistments during World War II and the Korean Conflict. 
						He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America and 
						served as Scout Master and Assistant Scout Master for 
						many years. 
						
						Arrangements have been entrusted to the Shore Point 
						Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State 
						Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. In 
						respect of Frank's wishes, he will be privately 
						cremated. 
						
						
						
						A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on 
						Saturday morning, September 29, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. 
						Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, 
						Holmdel, New Jersey 07730. Military honors will be 
						offered directly following the conclusion of the Mass.

						to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital,
