						Obituary

Milton worked as a lawyer at the Port Authority for more
than fifty years and, after retiring, continued to come
to work nearly every day. During his career, Milton
worked on virtually every important matter the Port
Authority handled. He was chosen to address the Agency’s
employees in the weeks just after 9/11, and spoke
beautifully. He wrote a wonderful book on the history of
the Port Authority’s Law Department. And we are lucky to
have had the chance to publicly honor Milton, at last
						year’s Law Department awards breakfast.

Milton had so many wonderful qualities. He was a
brilliant and creative and honorable lawyer. He was
fiercely ethical. He was a joyous and generous man, who
loved life. And Milton had a special quality about him
--- the deep integrity of being the same thing to many,
						many different sorts of people.

Some thought that there was a mystery about Milton ---
with all he had accomplished, why did he keep coming to
work, even in retirement? But that was no mystery.
Milton loved being a lawyer. He loved the Law
Department. He loved the Port Authority. And he loved a
great many of us. We are so lucky to have known Milton,
and to have shared with him the mission of this
wonderful place. And we will miss him a great deal.
