Obituary
Robert G. Butkiewicz Loving family man, Port
Authority staff lieutenant, avid fisherman Robert G.
Butkiewicz, 76, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018. Born in
Jersey City, N.J., he lived in Lyndhurst, N.J., and
North Arlington, N.J., before moving to Manahawkin,
N.J., in 2002.
Funeral from the Parow Funeral Home, 185 Ridge Rd.,
North Arlington on Friday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. thence to
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, North Arlington for the
Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Entombment is in Holy Cross
Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 3:30
to 7:30 p.m. He worked for the Port Authority of New
York & New Jersey as a staff lieutenant for 36 years
retiring as an executive officer at the Holland Tunnel
in 1997.
He was a first responder to the World Trade Center
bombing in 1993. He was a member of the Starling Club of
Lyndhurst, the Village Harbor Fishing Club in
Manahawkin, the Port Authority Retired Police
Association and the New Jersey Fraternal Order of
Police.
Robert was a longtime boat captain and an avid
fisherman. He was the beloved husband of Barbara J. (nee
Desimone) Butkiewicz, the loving son of Jean Butkiewicz
(nee Roszkowski), the devoted father of Deborah Cummins
and her husband, Steve, and Robert A. Butkiewicz and his
wife, Kimberly A.; the cherished grandfather of Alexis
R. Butkiewicz, and the dear brother of Stephen A
Butkiewicz.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciates
donations made to Court Appointed Special Advocates,
Somerset, Hunterdon & Warren Counties, 150 Boulevard,
Suite 3, Washington, N.J. 07920.
