Obituary
Douglas Weir, 76, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed
away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family
on November 23, 2017. Douglas was born on August 4, 1941
in Brooklyn, New York, where he grew up. On November 4,
1972, Douglas and his wife, Patricia, were married in
Bronx, New York, and started their lives together in
Brooklyn. In 1979, they settled in Hazlet, New Jersey to
raise their family. Douglas worked as a Mechanical
Engineer for the Port Authority of New York and New
Jersey; he was currently retired.
For many years after his retirement, Douglas worked as
as a Docent for the 9-11 Tribute Center in Manhattan,
New York, which he was very passionate about, where he
lead and educated visitors through the memorial museum.
He was also a member of the Middletown Elks Lodge and a
proud United States Army Veteran.
He was predeceased by his parents, Dugald and Agnes
(Smith) Weir, and his brother, Ronald Weir. Douglas is
survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 45 years,
Patricia (Joyce) Weir, his loving children, Jennifer
Ramellini and her husband, Robert, of Howell, New
Jersey, Craig Weir of Hazlet, New Jersey, and Collin
Weir and his wife, Danielle, of Indianapolis, Indiana,
along with his dear sister, Anne McDonnell, and his
cherished grandchildren, Connor Ramellini, Caden
Ramellini, and Hudson Weir. Douglas will be deeply
missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday,
November 28, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Wednesday
morning, November 29, 2017 from 10:45 to 11:30 AM at the
Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc.,
3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey
07730. A prayer service will be offered at the funeral
home on Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM. Interment will
follow at 1:00 PM at Brigadier General William C. Doyle
Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road,
Wrightstown, New Jersey.
