						Mark J. Meier, 62 died Monday July 31, 2017 at 
						Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
						
						Born in Jersey City, Mark lived in Hoboken, Weehawken, 
						Closter and most recently in Ocean Grove, New Jersey.
						
						He graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s 
						Degree in Music Education and received his Master’s 
						Degree from Long Island University in Elementary 
						Education.
						
						Aside from being an avid reader, he was a classically 
						trained Guitarist. Mark enjoyed all types of outdoor 
						activities especially camping, hiking, fishing and 
						biking. He was the Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 63 in 
						Closter for many years.
						
						From 1978 through 2003, Mark worked as a Port Authority 
						Police Officer of New York & New Jersey. He was one of 
						the many first responders following the 9/11 terrorist 
						attack on the World Trade Center in New York.
						
						Son of the late John Meier, he is survived by his mother 
						Margaret Green Meier, his wife Florence DiSanzo Meier, 
						his son Eric Meier, his twin daughters Dr. Jessica Meier 
						and her husband Damian Zaccaria, Dr. Kristen Sochol and 
						her husband Jason Sochol, one sister Marjorie Meier 
						Galeota and her husband George, one brother John Meier 
						and his wife Elisabeth.
						
						Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 
						10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 44 
						Bridge St. Lambertville, NJ. Burial will follow in the 
						Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont NJ with funeral honors being 
						presented by the New York and New Jersey Port Authority 
						Honor Guard. There will be no calling hours.
