Obituary
Cheralynn Thiel Gilligan, 52, of South Amboy died
Monday February 8, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson
University Hospital, New Brunswick.
Born in Jersey City, she lived in Woodbridge before
moving to South Amboy 25 years ago. She was employed by
the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as Tour
Manager at the Staten Island bridges for the past 30
years.
A 1991 graduate of Kean University, she enjoyed her
family and friends, walking her dogs at the Raritan Bay
waterfront and boating.
Daughter of the late Rosemarie Piserchia Thiel who died
in 2012, she was also predeceased by her sister,
Emmalynn "Emmy" Burke in 2010. She is survived by her
husband of 25 years, John Gilligan; her father Richard
C. Thiel of Woodbridge; her sister and brother-in-law
Carolynn and Eugene Getz of Edison; her brother and
sister-in-law Richard and Pamela Thiel of Woodbridge;
her brother-in-law Edward "Timmy" Burke of Woodbridge;
her adored nieces and nephews Anton Getz, Andrew Getz
and his fiancee Margaret Schreiver, Tommy Burke, Colby
and Alyson Thiel; her great niece Cali Lynn Burke and
she also loved her dogs Dallas One, Dallas Two, Dallas
Three and Dallas Four.
Funeral services will be held on Friday February 12,
2016 at 10am at The
Gundrum Service "Home
For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy
followed by private cremation. Visitation will be on
Thursday from 5 to 9pm.

Subject: IN MEMORIAM
Her friends at the Port Authority were saddened to learn
of the passing of Cheralynn Thiel Gilligan on Monday,
February 8, 2016. Ms. Gilligan is survived by her
husband, John.
Ms. Gilligan joined the Port Authority on March 4, 1985.
At the time of her death, she held the position of
General Patron Services Supervisor in the Tunnels,
Bridges & Terminals Department at the Staten Island
Bridges.
Friends and relatives will be received at The Gundrum
Service, 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy, NJ on
Thursday, February 11, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral
service will be held on Friday, February 12 at 10 a.m.
at The Gundrum Service, followed by private cremation.
