Robert E. Sturdy, II

Robert E. Sturdy, II, beloved father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away in Hewitt on May 26, 2016. “Bob” was 70 and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam following graduation from Stuyvesant High School in New York.

He was an electrical engineer and toll systems specialist for Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for 33 years.

Bob lived his life doing what he loved. He was an amazing inventor, builder, boat and motor cycle enthusiast. He enjoyed sharing his many hobbies and expertise with others. Bob was a quiet and gentle man who would do anything for those he loved. He was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.

Bob is survived by his beloved son, Marine Corporal Robert E. Sturdy III, stationed at Camp Pendleton, San Diego. “Bobby” is God’s gift and the light of Bob’s life; his sister, Betty A. Sturdy of Spring Lake; brothers-in-law John Brew, Gerard Brew, Paul Brew, and George Brew and their wives and children, Brian, Thomas, Gregory, John Paul, and Madison; his Marine brother, Kenneth G. Hubener, of New York; and his many dear and loyal friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 9, at Richards Funeral Home, 1440 Union Valley Road, West Milford, from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, June 10, at 10 a.m. from Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 1911 Union Valley Road, Hewitt. Scheduled interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Milford Animal Shelter Society, PO Box 72, West Milford, NJ 07480 or the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
