Obituary

SCALERA, Michael D., age 62, of Garfield, died on November 6, 2016.

Born in Paterson, he was raised in Clifton for 18 years settling in Garfield 44 years ago. He was a certified NJ Black Seal and NJ Blue Seal Operator working as a HVAC Technician for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey at Newark Airport the past 5 years, and previously worked for Farmland Dairies in Wallington, and PAR Group in Lynbrook, NY.

Michael was a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church in Garfield where he served as an Eucharist Minister and a Bingo Volunteer, and was a Third Degree Knights of Columbus with the Lodi Council. He was also a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers - Local 68 of West Caldwell, and the United Association of NJ - Pipefitters Union - Local 274 of Ridgefield Park.

Beloved husband of 32 years to Linda (nee Dys), loving father of Benjamin and Daniel, dear son of Clementina Scalera, and brother of James Scalera and wife Laura, and Diana Scalera and husband Michael Lux. He is predeceased by his father, Carmen Scalera.

Visiting Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral is Saturday, November 12, 2016, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8 am followed by a 9 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield.
