Charles J. Millner

Obituary

Millner, Charles Joseph (Charlie) went to the Lord on November 26, 2016. He was born on September 22, 1923 in Long Island City, NY. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Marion, his brother William (Dorothy), his children Donna (Vincent) Amato, Glenn (Lori), Ruth (John) Mahnken, Gary (Eve), as well as 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. To him, family was everything.

Charlie served his country as a Pharmacist mate ("Doc") during World War II in the Pacific. He was a police sergeant for the Port Authority of NY and NJ and later became operations Supervisor at LaGuardia Airport. Charlie was a pioneer of youth ice hockey on Long Island, leading both locally and at the state level. At 84, he wrote a book entitled Torpedo Boat Odyssey. He was an ardent fisherman and part-time commercial lobsterman.

Family and friends may visit at the Vernon C. Wagner funeral home, 125 W. Old Country Rd. Hicksville on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Religious Service Wednesday 8PM in the FH. Military Honors Wednesday 8:30PM . Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Princeton Congregational Church, PO Box 429Princeton, Maine 04668.
