						Philip Anthony Maurer ALLENTOWN Philip Anthony 
						Maurer, 78, of Allentown passed away quietly on Monday, 
						October 31, 2016, at his son's home in Pennsylvania. 
						
						
						
						Born in the Bronx, NY, on January 17, 1938, Philip and 
						his wife, Margaret Mary Eleanor, were residents of West 
						Windsor for 33 years before moving to Allentown 11 years 
						ago. Philip and Eleanor were married for 51 years prior 
						to her passing in 2012. He was a devoted husband, 
						father, grandfather and loved to play golf with his 
						friends, children and grandchildren. 
						
						
						
						Philip graduated from Brooklyn Prep in 1955 and went on 
						to earn his Bachelor's degree from Fordham University in 
						1959. He graduated in 1963 from St. John's Law School. 
						In 1968 he received his Juris Doctor from St. John's and 
						later was admitted to the United States Supreme Court in 
						1990. Philip worked for USF&G as a claims adjuster and 
						attorney from 1959 until he joined the Port Authority of 
						New York/New Jersey in 1969. Philip began his 27-year 
						career at the Port Authority as trial attorney and rose 
						through the ranks to hold several positions including, 
						assistant chief of NY litigation and chief of employment 
						and labor law before he retired in 1996 as chief of 
						contract litigation. Philip was awarded many prestigious 
						citations throughout his career and represented the Port 
						Authority before the U.S. Supreme Court. 
						
						
						
						He was known as an extraordinary litigator. Philip was 
						past president of West Windsor Little League from 1973 
						to 1983, where all four of his children played baseball 
						and softball. He was a parishioner of St. John the 
						Baptist R.C. Church in Allentown, served on the finance 
						committee and was a member of The Knights of Columbus, 
						where he achieved the rank of Third Degree Knight. 
						
						
						
						Son of the late Philip and Julia Maurer, he was 
						predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret Mary Eleanor 
						Maurer, and his brother, Robert Maurer. Philip is 
						survived by his children, Susan Balderstone and her 
						husband, Thomas, Philip T. Maurer and his wife, Barbara, 
						Michael Maurer and his wife, Christa, and Sloane Thayer; 
						eight grandchildren, Philip, Julia and Emily Maurer, 
						Grace and Michael Maurer, Philip Thayer and Maggie and 
						Susannah Balderstone; a sister, Mary Jane Hammond and 
						her husband, Thomas; three sisters-in-law, Judith 
						Maurer, Lynn Whittington and Sue McCrory; a 
						brother-in-law, Paddy Brannigan, as well as many nieces 
						and nephews. 
						
						
						
						Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. 
						on Friday, November 4, 2016, at St. John the Baptist R.C. 
						Church, 1282 Yardville-Allentown Rd., Allentown. Family 
						and friends may call Thursday, November 3, from 2 to 5 
						p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and again Friday morning from 9 
						until 10:30 a.m. at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. 
						Main St., Allentown. In lieu of flowers, the family 
						would prefer memorial contributions be made to Saint 
						John The Baptist Building Fund, 1282 Yardville-Allentown 
						Road, Allentown, NJ 08501.
