Obituary
Wesley Edward Lent, Jr. passed away on August 14,
2016 at the age of 90.
Mr. Lent was a long-time resident
of Norwalk and Stamford. He was born May 4, 1926 in
Greenwich to Wesley Edward Lent, Sr. and Ethel Bason
Lent, was raised in Stamford, and graduated from
Stamford High School in 1944. He proudly joined the US
Army during the last years of WWII and was stationed at
Ft. Ord in California. After leaving the service, he
attended the University of Con-necticut, and graduated
from the School of Engineering in 1951. He was named to
the Engineering Honor Society and was a member of the
American Society of Civil Engineers. Mr. Lent worked for
the Stamford Water Company and retired from the Port
Authority of NY and NJ in 1992 after working there for
25 years as a Civil Engineer.
He married Joan Walters in
1963 and the two spent 53 wonderful years together. The
Lents moved to Norwalk in 1967 and raised two daughters
there. Mr. Lent was an avid fan of UCONN Basketball, the
Boston Red Sox, and the NY Giants and enjoyed traveling
and spending family vacations on Cape Cod. Mr. Lent will
be remembered as a loving and generous man and he will
be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is
survived by his wife, Joan, daughters Nancy Lent Goddard
and Susanne Lent Blackstock, sons-in-law, Stuart
Goddard and Jack Blackstock and grandchildren, Rebecca
and Katie Goddard and Esme and Beauregard Blackstock.
A
memorial mass for Mr. Lent will be held at St. Matthew's
Church in Norwalk on September 10, 2016 at 11:00 am. In lieu
of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made
to a favorite charity. Arrangements under the care of
