His friends at the Port Authority were saddened to learn of the passing of Peter Herrera on Sunday, January 24, 2016. Mr. Herrera is survived by his wife, Amelia, and children, Kimberly and Melissa.

Mr. Herrera joined the Port Authority on May 29, 2002. At the time of his death, he held the position of Project Manager in the Aviation Department at LaGuardia Airport.

Friends and relatives will be received at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, 3863 Merrick Road, Seaford, NY, on Wednesday, January 27, and Thursday, January 28, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm.  A religious ceremony will be held on Thursday, January 28, at 8 p.m. at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home. A private cremation service will be held on Friday, January 29.
