In Memory of
Martin (Lefty) A. Cohen
March 7, 1927 - September 6, 2016
Obituary
Martin Cohen (AKA "Marty" or "Lefty"), Port Authority
Police Officer from 1952-1972, Badge number 1193, and
member of the United States Coast Guard in World War II,
Marty was 89 and passed away on his own terms at UC Davis Medical Center
after the rupture of his abdominal aortic aneurysm on
Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 5:30 p.m.
His daughter Marlo was at his side the entire time,
holding his hand and telling him how much she loved him
while they listened to Sinatra on the radio. Marty will
be missed more than words can say, but his sense of
humor, his stories, his strength and his love will be
remembered and carried on by his children and
grandchildren and by all those whom he has touched in so
many ways.
Have a cigar or a glass of bourbon in his honor. A
pastrami sandwich or cannoli will suffice too. A
memorial service will be held in Marty's honor on
October 9, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at
Congregation Beth Shalom,
1455 Elm Street, Napa, CA. Condolences can be sent to
Marty's daughter Marlo at
marlosc@hotmail.com. He was so
proud to have served New York City in this capacity.
