Obituary
Kirschner, Daniel M., 88, of Pompton Plains, NJ,
son of Frances and Herman Kirschner, passed away
February 8, 2015.
He was born in Bronx, NY, and spent his early years in
Brooklyn. He raised his family in Emerson, NJ. He served
in the US Navy Seabees in WWII. Mr. Kirschner graduated
from Long Island University and was an airport economist
for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for
over 30 years. He was a founding member of Congregation
B'nai Israel in Emerson, NJ. He was also a member of the
Knights of Pythias. He was honored for his work by
Israel Bonds and was a passionate supporter of the State
of Israel and made numerous trips there and served with
the Volunteers for Israel.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Phyllis Thaler
Kirschner, two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and
Barry Diamond and Barbara and Gil Irwin, five
grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He is also
survived by his sister, Maxine Hartman.
Funeral services will be held today at the Louis
Suburban Chapel, 13-01 Broadway (Route 4 West), Fair
Lawn, NJ at 9:30 AM, with burial to follow at the New
Montefiore Cemetery in Pine Lawn, NY.
