Obituary
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Former Staten Island resident
Philip Devlin, 78, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., a retired
plumber, veteran and devoted Jets fan, died March 16 in
Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.
Born and raised in New Brighton, Mr. Devlin graduated
from McKee High School in 1955.
He moved to West Brighton in 1968, and had lived in Port
St. Lucie since 2001.
Mr. Devlin worked for 30 years as a plumber for the Port
Authority of New York and New Jersey, retiring in 1993.
He earned an associate's degree from St. Peter's
College, Jersey City.
Mr. Devlin served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in
Germany.
He was a member and volunteer of the Council for the
Aging in Port St. Lucie, where he cooked and delivered
meals to the elderly. Mr. Devlin also enjoyed bowling.
A loyal New York Jets fan, he was a season ticket holder
for more than 30 years before he moved to Florida.
His wife of 51 years, Margaret, died two months ago.
Surviving are his son, Michael; his daughters, Gloria
Beattie and Catherine Pollaci; seven grandchildren and
four great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial mass on Saturday, April 11,
2015 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church,
Huguenot.
Arrangements, including cremation, are being handled by
the Tudor Funeral Home, Tompkinsville.
