Obituary

Gilbert C. Breden, 86, Edgewater, a retired police officer for the New York and New Jersey State Port Authority, died Thursday, November 12, 2015 at his home. Mr. Breden, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved to the area in 1995 from Lynbrook, NY.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #17, both in New Smyrna Beach and the Veterans Group at Hacienda Del Rio, Edgewater. He was also a first degree member of Father Downey Council #4934, Knights of Columbus, New Smyrna Beach.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta S.; one son, Curtis (Karen) Breden of Dix Hills, NY; one daughter, Cheryl (Dennis) Daily of Lynbrook; one sister, Elfie Schuman of Honesdale, PA and four grandchildren, Justine and Eric Breden and William and Jillian Daily. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Stella J. Breden in 1998.

Visitation will be from 2:00pm until 6:00pm Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Dudley Edgewater Chapel, Edgewater. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 AM Monday, November 16, 2015 at St. Gerard Catholic Church, Edgewater. Entombment will follow in the All Faiths Mausoleum at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater.
