Edward F. Rowan

May 24, 1927 - October 30, 2014

Obituary

Edward F. Rowan, 87, of Hazlet passed away Thursday.  Born in Jersey City he resided there before moving to Hazlet twenty years ago. Mr. Rowan was a World War II United States Navy Veteran.

He was a Port Authority Police Officer at Newark Airport before retiring and then went to work for the Jersey City Post Office retiring from there after twenty years.

He was predeceased by his wife the former, Alberta Winckiewicz; and two brothers, Michael Rowan and James Rowan.  He is survived by three sons, Rich Rowan and his wife, Lynn of Clifton, Gerard Rowan of Holmdel and Stephen Rowan of Matawan; two sisters, Mary Miller of NJ and Claire Studer of Flint, Michigan; two granddaughters, Christyn Pellegrino and her husband, Steven and Carrie DeCarlo and her husband, Michael; two great-grandsons, Jackson Pellegrino and Ryan Pellegrino; and his very good friend, Virginia Bannon of Hazlet.

Funeral services will be Saturday 9:15 am from the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton and 10:00 am at St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visiting Friday 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
