Arthur Francis Prout
Arthur Francis Prout, 86, of Brick, returned to the Lord
on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014. Arthur was born on March 24,
1928 in his beloved Jersey City to Arthur and Gertrude
Prout. He later lived in Newark and Irvington before
moving to Pt. Pleasant in 1970.
Arthur proudly served in the United States Navy after
World War II.
Upon his return, he was employed by the
Port Authority of NY and NJ, first as a Police Officer
and then in Airport Operations at Newark Airport.
After
his retirement in 1984, he was employed by the Pt.
Pleasant Board of Education as a bus driver. Arthur was
a member of the Brick Township Old Guard and was a Board
Member of the Parents Association of Woodbridge
Developmental Center. He and his wife, Mary, were among
the founding families of St. Martha's Church, Pt.
Pleasant. Arthur will be remembered as a loving father
and grandfather, who always enjoyed watching his
grandchildren in all of their activities.
In addition to his parents, Arthur is predeceased by his
wife, Mary (Dever) Prout in 2008 and his sister, Elinor
Viola. He is survived by his sons, Edward of Woodbridge,
Arthur and his wife, Joanna, of Pt. Pleasant, Michael
and his wife, Colleen, of Pt. Pleasant and his daughter,
Eileen Oujo and her husband, Jack, of Wall. He is also
survived by 5 grandchildren, Kaitlin, Christopher and
Matthew Oujo and Ryan and Kerry Prout as well as by his
many friends and caregivers at Brandywine Assisted
Living, Brick, his home for the past 6 years.
Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170
Highway 88, Brick. A funeral mass will be offered at 11
a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at St. Martha's Church, Pt.
Pleasant, followed by interment at St. Catharine's
Cemetery, Wall Township. In lieu of flowers, donations
in Arthur's name can be sent to the Special Olympics,
1133 19th Street NW, 12th Floor, Washington, DC
