                        Lewis, James H., 
                        82-of Whitesboro, New Jersey passed away Wednesday, July 
                        2, 2014 at the Ocean View Nursing Home. James was born 
                        in New York on April 17, 1932 to the late Henry and Ella 
                        Lewis. He was educated in the New York City School 
                        System and graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School.
                        
                        James served four years 
                        in the United States Army as a paratrooper, and was 
                        honorably discharged in 1953. He retired from the Port 
                        Authority of New York and New Jersey after 33 years of 
                        service and moved to Whitesboro in 1991 with his wife, 
                        Dorothy. James was very active in the community serving 
                        as Post Commander of the American Legion Post 198 and 
                        the County Commander in Cape May County. He also served 
                        several years as president of AARP Chapter 1182. He 
                        loved to go fishing on the Porgy 3 in Cape May and 
                        traveled extensively with this wife.
                        
                        James leaves to cherish 
                        his memory: His loving wife of 26 years Dorothy E. 
                        Lewis; six children, James Jr. (Linda), Harold (Sharon), 
                        and Kevin Lewis; Denise, Pamela and Karen Bristol; eight 
                        grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
                        
                        James was the patriarch 
                        of the Mitchell-Harris family and is survived by: three 
                        siblings - a brother Robert, two sisters, Mary Ponton 
                        and Ella Emanuel (Amos).
                        
                        Funeral services will be 
                        held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the 
                        Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court 
                        House, New Jersey. Viewing will begin at 10:00 AM. 
                        Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans 
                        Cemetery.
