Obituary
Thomas E. Doogan of Cranford died Monday, October 20,
2014 at home.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at
Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Avenue, Cranford. A Mass
of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 24th at St.
Michael’s R.C. Church, Cranford at 10:30 a.m.
Mr. Doogan was born August 26, 1930 in Bayonne, the
first of three children born to Edward and Ann (Boyle)
Doogan of Bayonne and Neptune City, New Jersey. He
attended local schools. He was a graduate of Seton Hall
University where he earn a B.S. in Business. Mr. Doogan
was discharged honorable from the United States Naval
Reserves.
Mr. Doogan began a forty five year career with the Port
Authority of New York and New Jersey in 1948. He retired
as an Administrator in the Engineering Department. Mr.
Doogan served as President of the P.A.C.E.M. Society,
Holy Name Society, The Port Service Club, The Travel and
Leisure Club. He was elected to The Board of Directors
of the Xcel Credit Union, a position he retained up to
the time of his death. He served as a Director more than
twenty years.
Mr. Doogan was married to his childhood sweetheart,
Margaret (Forker) Doogan. They celebrated their 60th
Anniversary this past September 11th. Mr. Doogan was
predeceased by his parents and his sister Ann Marie
Gliebe of Tiburon, California. He is survived by his
wife Margaret, his beloved son Dr. Edward Doogan, his
loving brother Dennis of Shrewsbury and Bonita Springs,
Florida.
Thomas is also survived by his dear sister-in-law
Rosanne O’Connell of Fort Worth, Texas, his
brother-in-law Dennis Forker, Rutherford, NJ, his nieces
Karen Moor, Mountain View, California, Maureen
O’Connell, Grapevine, Texas, Colleen McCoy, Fort Worth,
Texas, Patricia Hamilton, Pittsford, New York, Mary Beth
Finn, Westfield, NJ, Eileen Haughney, Verona, NJ,
Survivors also include his nephews Frank Doogan,
Shrewsbury, NJ, Paul Gliebe, San Francisco, California
and William O’Connell,
Fort Worth, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sloan
Kettering Cancer Center, New York City or the Sister of
St. Joseph, St. John Villa, Flourtown, Pennsylvania.
