Robert L. Bethea

Robert L. Bethea, 70, passed away on May 29, 2014, at JFK Haven Hospice.  Viewing will be at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood, N.J., on Monday, June 2, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a service at St John's Baptist Church on Morse Avenue in Scotch Plains, N.J., at 11:30 a.m.

Born in Latta, S.C., Mr. Bethea resided in Scotch Plains for 32 years, coming from Jersey City, N.J.
He retired from the Port Authority Police Department as a sergeant in 1999.

Mr. Bethea received his B.S. in criminal justice from Adelphi University and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Bethea is survived by his wife, Susan; his daughter, Kimberly Tarabocchia and her husband, Anthony; his son, Robert; his grandchildren, Dean and Stella, and by six brothers and three sisters.
