WALTER BERNDT

Walter G. Berndt Electrician for Port Authority of NY and NJ PATH, 78 Walter G. Berndt, 78, of Hazlet, N.J., passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at Jersey City Medical Center, Jersey City, N.J.

Cremation will be private. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. service, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Pl., Keyport, N.J.

Born in Jersey City, N.J., Walter lived in Hazlet for 22 years. He was an electrician for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey PATH train.

Walter was an avid fisherman, and took great joy in helping others. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Walter was predeceased by his parents, George and Evelyn (Krause) Berndt, and a brother, George in 1989.

He is survived by his wife, Birgit Berndt of Hazlet; his daughters, Jennifer Berndt of Old Bridge, N.J., Caroline Gabriello and her husband, Jim, of Jamesburg, N.J., and Pamela Luchnick and her husband, Andrew, of Ocean, N.J.
