Kevin C. Murphy, 
						55, of Hazlet, N.J., passed away suddenly on March 17, 
						2013. Family and friends are invited to visit on 
						Wednesday, March 20, and Thursday, March 21, from 2 to 4 
						and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday, March 22, from 8 to 8:45 
						a.m. at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation 
						Service, 3269 State Rt. 35 North, Hazlet. A Mass of 
						Christian Burial is on Friday, March 22, at 9:30 a.m. at 
						the Holy Family R.C. Church, Union Beach, N.J. Interment 
						is in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, N.J. For

						Kevin was born in Jersey 
						City, N.J. on May 28, 1957, and grew up there. In 1983, 
						he moved to Bayonne, N.J., for a short time, before 
						settling in Hazlet in 1985 to raise a family. Kevin 
						attended Charles Street School in Jersey City and St. 
						Paul of the Cross. He graduated from Hudson Catholic 
						School and played on the championship basketball and 
						baseball teams. Kevin worked at the World Trade Center 
						in the Legal Department, and graduated from the Port 
						Authority Police Academy in 1985. He was a first responder 
						during Hurricane Floyd, served in rescue operations in 
						1993 during the World Trade Center bombing, and 
						supervised 9/11 recovery efforts at Ground Zero. 
						
						Kevin 
						carried the torch for the final leg of the World Special 
						Olympics in Athens, Greece, in 2011, and was special 
						Olympics Law Enforcement coordinator with over 25 years 
						involvement in the Special Olympics. He was a fixture at 
						Special Olympic events, the Polar Bear Plunge, Plane 
						Pull, Snow Bowl and the Summer Games. 
						
						Kevin was a proud member 
						of the Port Authority Emergency Service Unit (supervisor 
						and officer) and was a lieutenant for the Port Authority 
						Police Department with 28 years of service. 
						
						Kevin was an 
						avid fan of the Giants and Kansas City Royals. He was 
						active in coaching sports with his daughters' softball 
						and basketball teams and was a member of the HYAL. 
						Kevin's daughters were his pride and joy and his biggest 
						accomplishment; he was a dedicated husband and father. 
						He will be sadly missed but never forgotten. 
						
						Kevin was predeceased by 
						his parents, Robert and Joan (Hanley) Murphy. He is 
						survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Barbara 
						(Davis) Murphy; his loving daughters, Allison and Jenna 
						Murphy; his dear brother, Brian Murphy and his wife, 
						Kathleen, of Middletown, N.J.; his sisters and 
						brothers-in-law, Bernadette Paul of Matawan, N.J., 
						Andrew and Roberta Davis of Holmdel, N.J.,and Jason 
						Davis of 
						
Pennsylvania, along with many nieces, nephews 
						and friends.
