We were saddened to learn of the passing of Commissioner H. Sidney Holmes III. Commissioner Holmes was appointed to the Board of Commissioners in May 2008 by former New York Governor Paterson. Commissioner Holmes was a Senior Counsel of Winston & Strawn LLP in New York City, with substantial experience in the area of public finance.

Commissioner Holmes gave tirelessly of his time, talent and experience in furtherance of the agency’s mission. During his tenure on the Board, Commissioner Holmes served on the Committees on Finance, Governance and Ethics, Operations, Security, Audit, and as Chair of the former Committee on Capital Programs/Agency Planning. He also served on the World Trade Center Redevelopment Subcommittee.

It is with profound sorrow that we mark Commissioner Holmes’ passing and that we honor him for his dedicated service to The Port Authority and the region it serves.

Flags at all Port Authority facilities will be flown at half-staff in honor of Commissioner Holmes.
