
						
						
						
						Noel S. Hassett
						
						
						
						
						
						
						Noel S., 77, formerly of Old Tappan, passed away 
						on Monday, April 1, 2013, at his home.  Mr. Hassett 
						was born in Kilkee, Co. Clare, Ireland. He came to the 
						United States in 1957, settling in the Bronx, before 
						serving in the Air Force from 1957-61. 
						
						
						After his service, he returned to New York and, in 1964, 
						he began a long and distinguished career with the Port 
						Authority of NY/NJ. He moved to Old Tappan in 1969 where 
						he remained until he retired from the Port Authority and 
						relocated to Spring Lake in 1996. He served as a 
						Firefighter with the Old Tappan Fire Department for many 
						years, and was active in Irish clubs in Bergen County.
						
						Mr. Hassett was predeceased by his parents, as well as 
						eight siblings. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann 
						(nee O'Regan), his son and daughter-in-law, Barry and 
						Melanie Hassett, of Alpharetta, Ga., and his 
						grandchildren, Chelsea, Dylan and Shane Hassett. He is 
						also survived by his brothers, Stephen and Kevin, his 
						sisters, Ita and Claire, in Ireland and England, anda 
						large extended family.
						
						Visitation will take place at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 
						Hwy. 35, at New Bedford Rd., Wall, NJ, on Wednesday, 
						from 5-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 
						celebrated at St. Catharine's Church, Spring Lake, on 
						Thursday, at 9 A.M., followed by entombment at St. 
						Catharine's Cemetery, Sea Girt.

						in Mr. Hassett's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's
