STATEN
ISLAND, N.Y. - Joseph Yannacci, 80, a retired
mechanical engineer and a veteran of the Korean War,
died Saturday in Richmond University Medical Center,
West Brighton.
Born in Brooklyn, he moved to Castleton Corners in
1967 and to Sea View two years ago. He served
in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was
stationed in Germany. In 1965, he graduated
from New York University with a degree in
engineering. Mr. Yannacci worked as a
mechanical engineer for the Port Authority of New
York and New Jersey, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of various investment clubs in
Manhattan and on Staten Island, and volunteered with
SCORE, The Service Corps of Retired Executives on
Staten Island. In his leisure time, he enjoyed
fishing, studying the stock market, fixing things
around the house, and gardening.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Mary; two sons,
Vincent and John; one daughter, Janine Bland; two
brothers, Jerry and Peter; two sisters, Mary
Sarnataro and Lena Yannacci, and eight
grandchildren.

will be Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 2:00pm to
4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Funeral will be
Wednesday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton
Corners, with a mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Teresa’s
R.C. Church, Castleton Corners. Burial will be
in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia, N.J.
