						Leo John Ruffini, 86, from Sarasota, passed away at home 
						on September 17, 2012. Born May 24, 1926 in Brooklyn, 
						NY, he served in the U.S. Army from March, 1945 to 
						December 1946.
						He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Queens College, NY and 
						obtained a Masters in Public Administration from 
						Syracuse University, NY.
						He married the love of his life, Colleen Turner, on 
						April 24, 1954. 
						
						After having worked as manager in the Organization & 
						Procedures Department at the Port Authority of New York 
						and New Jersey for 25 years, he and Colleen relocated to 
						Sarasota from New Jersey in 1986. He pursued his love 
						for tennis, playing regularly until he was 82. 
						
						He is survived by his devoted wife, Colleen, daughter 
						Delia (Palm Harbor), son Richard (Sarasota), three 
						grandchildren, Victoria, William, and Ricky, sister 
						Jeanette (NJ), brother Philip (NY), many nieces and 
						nephews as well as extended family in Sydney, Australia.
						
						
						A Requiem Mass will be held at noon Saturday, September 
						22nd at the Church of the Redeemer, 222 South Palm 
						Avenue, Sarasota. A reception in the Parish Hall will 
						follow. 
						Interment will be at Sarasota National Cemetery. 
						
						Leo was a past President of the Mental Health Advocacy 
						Group in Bergen County, NJ. In lieu of flowers, 
						contributions in his memory may be made to Prospect 
						House, Mental Health Community Center, 240B South Tuttle
