James
G. Carlock, age 91, of Toms River, NJ passed away
peacefully on September 8, 2012 at his home. James was
born in Jersey City, NJ on April 11, 1921. He married
Jean K. Stafford on September 23, 1944.
He lived with his family in Scotch
Plains, NJ before moving to Toms River 27 years ago.
James was a graduate of New York University with a
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. After
working for NYU for a short time, he moved on to work
for The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
He began as an Engineering Draftsman and subsequently
held engineering positions of increasing responsibility
until his assignment to The World Trade Center in 1962.
James was Project Administrator in the Planning and
Construction Division of The World Trade Department. He
was involved in many projects, a few of which are; the
relocation of the U.S. Customs House, the subway
entrances into The World Trade Center, Dey Street
Underpass, and the originator of the location of the
PATH/World Trade Center Station.
James retired from the Port
Authority in 1988. At this time he spent his retirement
in Toms River with his loving wife, Jean. Husband
of the late Jean K. Carlock, he is survived by 3
daughters, Jean Ann Carlock, Lee Cooper, and Terri
Huizing and her husband Barry; 10 grandchildren, 9
great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
James will be remembered for his sense of humor, and his
dedication and love for his family. He was extremely
proud of his entire family and they would like to invite
you to A Celebration of His Life. It will take place at
Terri and Barry's house on October 13, 2012 from 2:00 -
