James T. Lunney, age 74, died on Thursday, January 06, 2011 at the Barbara E. Cheung Memorial Hospice in Edison.

James was born in Jersey City to the late Philip Lunney and Catherine Kelly. He resided in Edison for 44 years.

James was a Police Officer for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey for 38 years retiring in 1996. He served in the United States Army. James was an avid reader who enjoyed swimming and handball.

James is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joan (Siviski) Lunney of Edison; his 3 daughters, Kelly Palaia and her husband Jim of Warren; Kim Miller and her husband Sean of Metuchen and Kerry Santamaria and her husband Joe of South Plainfield; 7 grandchildren, Tara, Kayla and James Palaia; Madison and Patrick Miller and Taylor and Gabrielle Santamaria.

The funeral will be held on Monday, January 10th at 9:15 a.m. from the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Avenue (Rt. 27) Metuchen followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Helena's R.C. Church, Edison. Entombment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-6 p.m.
