
						John W. James
						
						AGE: 87 . Berkeley Twsp.
						
John W. James, 87, of Holiday Heights section of 
						Berkeley Twsp., NJ, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 
						2011 at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood, NJ. Born in 
						Louisville, Kentucky, he lived in Jamaica, Queens, NY 
						before moving to Berkeley Twsp in 1994. Mr. James was a 
						Social Worker for the New York City Department of Social 
						Services for 33 years, retiring in 1987. 
						
						
						John was a 
						Graduate of the University of Louisville, with a major 
						in Sociology and a minor in Education. He was a member 
						of the college's Phi Beta Sigma fraternity and the Gamma Rho Chapter of Queens, NY. After receiving his 
						Bachelor's Degree, he attended graduate school at the 
						University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work. Mr. 
						James was a US Army 
						
						WWII Veteran.
						
						Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Dorothy (nee Dorrell); 
						a daughter, Janet James of New York City; a son, 
						Jonathan W. James of Knoxville, Tennessee; a brother, 
						Robert D. James of Louisville, Kentucky; a 
						granddaughter, Jennifer W. James of Knoxville, 
						Tennessee.
						
						The family will receive friends Wednesday, 2-4pm & 7-9pm 
						at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. 
						Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A funeral service will be 
						offered Thursday, 11:30am at the funeral home. Burial to 
						follow at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 
						Arneytown, NJ at 1:30pm.

						St. Jude Children's 
						Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN
