James J. Doyle, 89
He worked at the Port Authority of N.Y./N.J. as a senior properties manager. He served our country in World War II. Jim loved to run, he was New Jersey State Champ in the mile and cross country three years in a row and was ranked third in the nation in both events. Jim was a parishioner for many years of Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Township of Washington and was instrumental in the building of the church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Mother Seton Council #5427. Beloved husband of Helen Doyle (nee Niedhart). Devoted father of Kathleen Shapiro and her husband Arthur, James Doyle and his wife Joan, John Doyle and his wife Irma, Thomas Doyle and his wife Mary. Loving grandfather of Brett, Erik and Craig Shapiro; Justin, James, Michael, Brian, John and Loretta Doyle. Cherished great grandfather of Chloe and Irie Shapiro. Dearest step great grandfather of Alyssa and Mason Small. Funeral liturgy was held at Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Township of Washington, on Feb. 28 and interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. The family received their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, Westwood, on Feb. 27. A Knights of Columbus service was held during visitation hours. West Milford – James J. Doyle, 2nd Lieutenant, 89, of
West Milford, formerly of Township of Washington, died
on Tuesday, Feb. 22.
Jim was born in Jersey City on July 30, 1921. He was a
graduate of the U.S.M.M.A. (Kings Point).
