Harry
Michael Yamka, 63, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2010
at home in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was born in
Manhattan, NY and resided in Oceanport and Eatontown NJ
before moving to Hattiesburg, MS eight years ago.
He proudly served his country in
the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War.
Harry was employed as a Port Authority Police Officer
for over 30 years and Fire Marshall at Newark
International Airport retiring in 2001. He was also a
9/11 First Responder. He was a member of the VFW in
Hattiesburg, MS, Fraternal Order of Police, Police
Benevolent Association, The Honor Legion, Port Authority
Retired Police Association. Harry was also a scout
master for Troop 58 and a volunteer fireman in
Oceanport, NJ.
He is predeceased by his parents
Harry and Mary (Hart) Yamka. Surviving is his wife Rita
L. (Niro) Yamka, sons Ryan Yamka of Topeka, KS and Kevin
Yamka of Lake Tahoe, NV, sisters Kathy Scotton of
Concord, NC, Joann Flannery of Port Jefferson, LI, and
Micheli Yamka of Astoria, NY, three grandchildren and
his beloved pet Precious "Lumpy".
Visitation will be held on
Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 9-11:30 am at John E. Day
Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ. A
funeral service will be held at 11:30 am at the funeral
home. Interment to follow at Forest Green Park Cemetery
in Morganville, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations can be made to: Port Authority Police
Benevolent Association, Widows and Orphan Fund, 611
