							STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — 
							John M. Sweeney, 69, of Parlin, N.J., a retired PATH 
							train conductor, died yesterday of liver cancer in 
							Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New 
							Brunswick, N.J. Born in West Brighton, he graduated in 1957 from 
							St. Peter’s High School for Boys, New Brighton, 
							before relocating to Parlin, N.J., 41 years ago.  
						
							Mr. Sweeney retired in 2000 as a conductor with 
							the Port Authority Path Trains in Jersey City.  He was a member of both the American Legion 
							Post, Sayreville, N.J., and the Benevolent 
							Protective Order of the Elks, Old Bridge, N.J. 
						
							In his leisure time, he enjoyed rooting for the 
							New York Jets, fishing, and traveling to his 
							vacation home in Wurtsboro, N.Y.  He served in the U.S. Army as a private in the 
							medical corps, stationed in West Germany from 1959 
							to 1961. Mr. Sweeney attended St. Bernadette’s R.C. 
							Church, Parlin. His wife, Liselotte, died in 2006.  Surviving are his two sons, James and John, and 
							a daughter, Patricia Gadziala. 
						
							The funeral will be Friday from Sayreville 
							Memorial Funeral Home, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in 
							St. Bernadette’s Church. Burial will follow in 
							Forest Green Memorial Park Cemetery, Morganville,
