AGE: 82 MANCHESTER
James Joseph Ruby, 82, of Manchester, died Saturday,
June 5, 2010, at Community Medical Center, Toms River.
James was born in Jersey City and lived there until
moving to Sparta in 1978. He was a World War II Navy
veteran. After the war, he worked as a policeman for the
Port Authority leaving after 23 years in 1977. In 1978,
he moved to Sparta and joined the Sussex County
Correctional Facility in Newton, retiring in 1996.
James is predeceased by his beloved son, Richard. He is
survived by his beloved wife, Gloria (nee Branna) Ruby;
devoted children, Gail Lupo and her husband Chuck,
Patricia Gordon and her husband Charlie, Barbara Murray
and her husband David, Gloria McDevitt and her husband
John, and John Ruby and his wife Laura. James is also
survived by his daughter-in-law, Maria Ruby;
grandchildren, Colette, Kristyn, Meredith, Dana,
Jessica, Connor, Gabrial, Micayla, Isabella, and Amanda;
great-grandchildren, Cayley, Cira, Lucy, and Audrey; and
his brother, Edward J. O'Connell.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday, June 9 at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main
St., Sparta. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Thursday, June 10 at Our Lady of the Lake Church,
Sparta. Interment will follow at Sparta Cemetery.
