CHENEY
AGE: 67 FAIR HAVEN
Philip C. Cheney, 67, passed away Monday, March
3, 2009, at home, in Fair Haven. Born in Hanover, N.H.,
he resided in Fair Haven for 37 years and Naples, Fla.
during the winter. He was employed with the Port
Authority, New York and New Jersey, retiring in 2000
after 34 years of service. He was the treasurer of Port
Authority of New York and New Jersey (P.A.R.A.) Retiree
Association and treasurer of the Board of Directors for
Xcel Federal Credit Union, Secaucus. Philip was a deacon
and elder of Rumson Presbyterian Church in Rumson and a
member of Moorings Presbyterian Church in Florida. He
served as cub master troop #127 in Fair Haven and
Boyscout Troop #67 at Tower Hill Presbyterian Church.
He was predeceased by his
parents, Ronald and Constance Ladd Cheney; and his
step-mother, Verna Goodrich. He is survived by his wife
of 43 years, Carol Hill Cheney; two sons, Kevin and his
wife Elizabeth Cheney of Midlothian, Va., and Philip and
Madonna Cheney Jr. of Petersburg, Va.; a daughter,
Kristin Cheney of Red Bank; a brother, Roger and his
wife Pauline Cheney of Vermont; two grandchildren,
Claire Marie and Katherine Elizabeth Cheney of
Midlothian, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1
to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009 at the
John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A
funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March
7, 2009 at Rumson Presbyterian Church, Rumson. Interment
is private. Memorial donations can be made to Shriner's
Children's Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA, or
Rumson Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, Rumson, NJ
