						STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. 
						-- John D. Semich, 82, of Annadale, a longtime Staten 
						Islander and retired machinist, died yesterday in Staten 
						Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze. 
						
						Born in Cedar Hills, 
						Colo., he also lived in Brooklyn before settling in 
						Annadale in 1962.  Mr. Semich worked as a machinist 
						for Brillo, the cleaning pad company, for 28 years and 
						then for the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) trains 
						until his retirement in 2003. 
						
						He enjoyed traveling to 
						Maine with his son to go hunting and shooting. 
						Mr. Semich served in the U.S. Army as a private first 
						class during World War II.  He was a parishioner of 
						Holy Child R.C. Church, Eltingville. 
						
						Mr. Semich's wife of 40 
						years, the former Virginia Long, died in 1987. 
						Surviving are his son, John (Jack); his two daughters, 
						Susan Day and Diane Mills, and two grandchildren. 
						
						The funeral will be 
						Saturday from the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, 
						with a mass at 9:45 a.m. in Holy Child R.C. Church, both 
						Eltingville. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery,
