His friends at the Port Authority were saddened to learn of the passing of Officer William A. Schmidt, age 47, on April 13, 2008.  William is survived by his wife, Bonnie, and his children Reilly Rose, Kara and Liam.

Officer Schmidt joined the Port Authority on June 27, 1994.  At the time of his death, he was assigned to John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Friends will be received at the Butler-Hughes Funeral Home, 69 Indian Head Road, Kings Park, NY on Tuesday, April 15th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, April 16th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

A mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret of Scotland, 81 College Road, Selden, NY on Thursday, April 17th at 10:45 a.m.  Interment will follow at the Calverton National Cemetery.
