
						GUSTAV W. MATSCHULAT, 
						94, of WARETOWN
						May 4, 2008
						
						GUSTAV W. MATSCHULAT, 94, of WARETOWN, died Friday, 
						May 2 at home.  In 1937 he started as a police 
						officer for the Port Authority of New York and New 
						Jersey working the Holland and Lincoln Tunnels and the 
						George Washington Bridge. He also attended New York 
						University at night for a degree in mechanical 
						engineering. 
						
						After Pearl Harbor he 
						enlisted in the Navy and served four years. Upon 
						returning home he went back to the Port Authority and 
						N.Y.U. When he received his degree he became a 
						mechanical engineer for the Port Authority working on 
						all three airports, LaGuardia, Kennedy and Liberty 
						International. He was with the Port Authority for 36 
						years. He and his wife moved to Waretown in 1974.
						
						He will be missed by his devoted wife Patricia; two 
						sons, Robert of Denver, Colo., and Eric of Fairlawn; and 
						two granddaughters of Denver.
						
						A private cremation was arranged by Ocean County 
						Cremation Service, Forked River. Anyone wishing to make
