
						Harris E. "Gene" Lucas
						Pearl Harbor survivor, 
						grand chaplain, master Mason, 86 Harris E. "Gene" Lucas, 
						86, of Franklin Park, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 26, 
						2008 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New 
						Brunswick. 
						
						Visitation will be held 
						on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a Masonic 
						ceremony at 8 p.m. at the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 
						Ridge Rd. at New Rd., Monmouth Junction, NJ. Burial will 
						be private. 
						
						Born in Ravia, Okla., 
						Gene served as an electrician's mate first class in the 
						U.S. Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Tennessee BB 
						43 at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. A Kismet shriner and 
						lifelong freemason, Gene was honored in February 2008 as 
						a grand chaplain in the State of New Jersey. He 
						celebrated his 50th anniversary as a master Mason in 
						2004, having served as master of the Livingston-West 
						Orange Lodge 205 (1964 and 2000), and was an affiliate 
						member of Princeton Lodge 38. 
						
						Gene retired from the 
						Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as high 
						tension systems coordinator at JFK International. 
						Airport in 1987 after 34 years, and was honored by the 
						bi-state agency with its Distinguished Service Medal in 
						1971. 
						
						He is survived by his 
						wife of 44 years, Eileen F. Lucas; his son, James 
						Morrison and wife Eileen; daughters, Eileen Morrison, 
						Patricia Pratt and husband Clifford, and Noreen 
						O'Donnell and husband James; grandchildren, Ryan 
						Morrison and wife Tiffany, Melissa Morrison, George 
						Battcher, Jessica Battcher, and Christopher O'Donnell, 
						and great grandchildren Yves, Alyssa and Kyra Morrison.
						
						
						In lieu of flowers, 
						donations may be made to the Kendall Park First Aid & 
						Rescue Squad, PO Box 5064, Kendall Park, NJ
