Martha Ann Britton, Holland Tunnel Tolls Supervisor

Martha Ann Britton, 58, made her transition on Aug. 17, 2006. Born in Williston, S.C., she lived in Jersey City for 25 years before moving to Rahway 10 years ago. Mrs. Britton was a graduate of Jersey City State Teachers College in 1980 with a bachelor of arts degree and a bachelor of science degree. She was a tolls supervisor at the Holland Tunnel for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for almost 20 years.

Mrs. Britton is survived by her husband, William S. Britton; children, William Britton IV and Gyneshia Britton-Mitchell; parents, Cornell and Bertha Gleaton; siblings, Sue, Mary, Rosa, Bertha and Barbara Gleaton, Dawn Loftin, James and Cornell Gleaton Jr., grandchildren, Niara and Toni Brielle Mitchell, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Charles and Jerome Gleaton.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Johns Baptist Church, 525 Bramhall Ave., Jersey City. Entombment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Union. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Arrangements are by Whigham Funeral Home.
